2008 Pronto Tinto (Adelaide)
The 2007 Pronto tinto is different to the inaugural 2006 as it sees the inclusion of 34% old vine Barossa Valley mourvèdre. It also sees more Syrah and Touriga and the percentage of old vine Grenache drops to under 50%. It continues to be a blend of predominantly dry-grown varieties that originate from Spain and Portugal that are ideally suited to our warm, dry winegrowing regions of South Australia. This wine has a complex fragrant nose where the fruit aromas of dark cherries and raspberries do not dominate. There are hints of musk, roses, dried spices and herbs, as well as wet earth or petrichor (the term for the smell after rain). The palate is medium bodies and long with fine building tannins on the finish and no obvious oak influence. - Stephen Pannell
